David Klein Gallery Announces Its New Gallery at 678 Livernois Avenue in Ferndale

David Klein Gallery is excited to announce the 2025 opening of its new gallery at 678 Livernois Avenue in Ferndale. The location, currently under renovation, will provide a modern, airy, naturally-lit space for art exhibitions. The gallery’s Birmingham and Detroit locations will close as the Ferndale location will serve as its primary exhibition space. The announcement was made by gallery owner and founder David Klein.

The new location, which has functioned as the gallery’s warehouse, has its own parking lot, and will feature a spacious, contemporary interior, with 3000 square feet of exhibition space.

I am thrilled to announce the relocation of the David Klein Gallery to 678 Livernois in Ferndale,” Klein said. “With Ferndale’s art district emerging, we know our presence there will help elevate the area. Since we already owned the building, and we didn’t own in Birmingham and Detroit, it makes sense to consolidate in this central location.”

As a leading Midwest gallery, and the only Detroit-based member of the Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA), David Klein Gallery has participated in the nation’s most prestigious art fairs in New York, Chicago, Miami, and LA to help advance its artists. The new Ferndale endeavor is another exciting chapter.

“This will be a very special space for our artists, collectors, and visitors to enjoy,” Klein continued. “And while we loved our time in Birmingham and Detroit, we are really excited about the burgeoning Ferndale area with restaurants, cafes, galleries, photography and framing studios, and other complimentary businesses. It’s a perfect fit for us in today’s art scene.”

The Detroit location will close on Saturday, December 21, and Birmingham will close in Spring 2025.

Christine Schefman will continue as Director, Haley Roberts as Assistant Director, and Craig Hejka as Preparator.

David Klein Gallery has been a celebrated gallery in Birmingham since 1990, with Klein serving as a notable steward in the city’s art district with an exhibition program focusing on presenting national and regional contemporary artists. Since its founding, the gallery has maintained a strong interest in Post War and Contemporary art. It opened its Detroit location in 2015 on historic Washington Boulevard for large-scale exhibitions of paintings, sculpture, photography, and installations.

The gallery has hosted important exhibitions including, but not limited to:

Jack Craig: Anteroom, September, 2024
